What is the Beginner Friendly Yoga Flow Series?

In this series, Sharon leads a series of six classes to help you gently create a stronger more flexible body and calmer mind while learning key concepts of yoga flow.

Six 1-hour classes are held online (Zoom) on Tuesdays (18:00 GMT / 19:00 CET / 10:00 PST).

Gentle movement-based yoga

Sharon specialises in leading gentle movement-based yoga classes without advanced or fast movements. She offers suggested options and variations for many of the poses, and the classes are great for both beginners and advanced practitioners.

Six classes

In this 6-week series, each class is well balanced with both flowing and stable postures. Classes typically start reclined to ground and bring awareness to the breath, connecting you to the present moment. You’ll gently warm up with floor-based movements. Then, you’ll practice slow beginner-friendly sun salutations to link movement and breath, further warm the body, and stretch and strengthen all major muscle groups. A series of standing and balancing postures will ground and strengthen. Then, it’s back to floor-based postures, this time to hold stretches and cool the body back down. You’ll end reclined in Savasana for final rest and relaxation and to absorb the effects of the practice.

Key concepts

To help you grow and develop your practice, Sharon includes a different key concept in each class. For example, you’ll learn breath awareness, and why this is so important in yoga. Rather than having to learn every pose separately, you’ll learn concepts that apply to whole families of fundamental postures.

 Q&A sessions

After each class, there is optional time for questions or discussion with Sharon so you can get the most out of your time.

Who is The Beginner Friendly Yoga Flow Series for?

Beginners: You are new to yoga, and don’t know where to start, or you don’t feel able to keep up with a group class. Maybe you lack motivation, despite knowing about the physical, mental, and emotional benefits of yoga. You don’t have accountability to keep up with your yoga practice.

Returners: You have practiced yoga before, but want to be guided in an accessible and gentle way. You don’t have support to get back into your yoga practice.

Yoga students: You want to learn key concepts and fundamental yoga postures. You wish to grow and develop your practice. Maybe you have questions about how to adapt the practice to your unique body.

Who is this NOT for?

  • People who want advanced or fast-paced yoga.

“Really enjoyed the class tonight. Thank you so much looking forward to next week xx”
Joanne G, Repeat participant of the 6-week Zoom series

What’s included?

  • A 1-hour live online yoga class each week for 6 weeks (Tuesdays at 18:00 GMT / 19:00 CET / 10:00 PST).

  • A key concept weaved into each class to help you grow and develop your practice.

  • Optional questions or discussion with Sharon after each class.

“Lovely session tonight! Felt lovely and relaxed afterwards – thank you!☺️”

Sharon Rayner

Hi, I’m Sharon!

I’m a yoga flow teacher focused on adapting the practice for beginners as well as people who  just want to keep their practice slow and simple.

I hear many people say that they would like to practice yoga, but they don’t know where to start. Another concern I hear is that “all-levels” yoga classes are too difficult. I have found that many people prefer a gentler approach to yoga. I am passionate about helping people increase strength, flexibility, balance, and achieve a calm mind, through yoga that is taught in an accessible and gentle way.

I have had a personal Vinyasa Flow Yoga practice since 2005. This style of yoga involves connecting one posture to the next using the breath and is considered a moving meditation. Through regular practice, I found that I felt better in my body, especially in my joints, and I resolved some hip and back pain and stiffness (likely caused by working in an office). My breathing and posture improved, my stress levels reduced, and I felt an unexpected improvement in my mood after each class.

After graduating from my Yoga Teacher Training in 2018, I began teaching straightaway. Since then, I have taken additional trainings including the art of teaching beginners, injury prevention and management, yoga sequencing, and teaching chair-based yoga.

I created this 6-week beginner friendly yoga series on Zoom because I know it will help you. For 6 weeks, I will gently lead you through a weekly 1-hour live online yoga class. I specialise in leading gentle movement-based yoga classes without advanced or fast movements. I offer suggested options and variations for many of the poses. To help you grow and develop your practice, I include a different key concept in each class. You can also stay for questions or discussion after each class so that you can get the most out of this series.

“Wonderful classes, you learn and you learn and you change if not in some small way, not to mention they are fun! ⭐I’m in🥰”
-Olivia K, Repeat participant of the 6-week Zoom series

Step 5: Follow along as Sharon leads you through each yoga class.

Option: Play some soft music to enhance your practice.

Step 6: After class, feel free to ask questions or discuss with Sharon how you are getting on.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where and when are the classes?

The classes are virtual. You can attend in your home or even in your office using your smartphone, tablet, or computer. The classes are held on Tuesdays (18:00 GMT / 19:00 CET / 10:00 PST). You may need to adjust for your time zone.

I’ve never done any kind of yoga before. Is this right me?

Sharon leads gentle movement-based yoga practices without advanced or fast movements. She offers suggested options and variations for many of the poses, and the classes are great for both beginners and advanced practitioners.

Please note: You need to be comfortable with getting up and down off your mat, and you will be moving your whole body. You are strongly encouraged to modify anything that doesn’t feel good, and to rest as needed. Whenever you start something new, there is a period of adjustment. With practice, you will likely find that your body moves with more ease, and your mind becomes clearer and calmer.

Will this program help me lose weight?

This is not advertised as a weight loss or fitness program. However, weight loss, flexibility and increased strength are all possible benefits of moving your body and reducing stress and tension.

What technology is required?

You will need a smartphone, tablet, or computer that can download the (free) Zoom app.

My only internet device is my phone. Can I watch the classes on my TV?

Most modern phones and TVs can be connected, either with a cable or wirelessly. Please search Google for instructions regarding your type of phone and TV.

Will you be able to see me on camera?

The classes are held using the (free) Zoom app. You can choose to join with your camera either on or off. Sharon will mute all participants’ microphones during the main part of the class.

What if I don’t have a quiet space?

No problem! You might have people and pets around, or be somewhere noisy, and that is completely fine. You can choose to have your camera on or off. Sharon will mute all participants’ microphones during the main part of the class. You can still have a great yoga session, no matter what is going on around you!

What yoga equipment do I need?

It is a good idea to have a slip resistant yoga mat because it will provide grip for some of the moves. Other types of exercise mats might be too soft to balance on during standing poses. Optional is a cushion or folded blanket to make sitting on the floor more comfortable.

What do I need to wear?

Loose comfortable clothing is fine.

Are replays of the classes available?

Sharon records the Zoom classes. Only Sharon is seen on screen in the recordings, and any discussions before/after are not included. Access to replays is provided a day or so after each class. You can follow along if you miss a class or want to repeat a class.

Please note: Zoom compresses the file size, so the video quality may not be the same as the live classes.

Is there a refund policy?

You can cancel up to 48 hours before the first class starts, and you will be refunded. If you cancel less than 48 hours in advance you will not receive a refund.

If I have another question, can I contact Sharon?

Feel free to email Sharon (sharon@sharonrayneryoga.com).

“I have recommended Sharon’s class to all my friends. It’s a very friendly class and Sharon is a superb teacher!”
