Private yoga classes with Sharon are 1-hour on Zoom, and can be booked at days and times to suit your schedule. You will have a free 15-minute consultation to talk about your needs, desires, and goals, and so that you can decide if private yoga is for you. Sharon will help you figure out what you need most from the sessions, and design classes for you that meet you where you are each time you have a session. This might look different from week to week, or month to month, and may include mindfulness, breathing techniques, postures, and flows. The sessions can be as relaxing or challenging as you wish. The physical postures can range from gentle or chair-based to more energetic yoga flows.

Private tuition is how yoga was originally taught.

Sharon Rayner

Hi, I’m Sharon!

I’m a yoga teacher focused on adapting the practice for beginners, people who want to keep their practice slow and simple, and (in a one-to-one setting) those working around a physical injury or limitation. I am passionate about helping people increase strength, flexibility, balance, and achieve a calm mind, through yoga that is taught in an accessible and gentle way.

I have had a personal Vinyasa Flow Yoga practice since 2005. This style of yoga involves connecting one posture to the next using the breath and is considered a moving meditation. Through regular practice, I found that I felt better in my body, especially in my joints, and I resolved some hip and back pain and stiffness (likely caused by working in an office). My breathing and posture improved, my stress levels reduced, and I felt an unexpected improvement in my mood after each class.

After graduating from my Yoga Teacher Training in 2018, I began teaching straightaway. Since then, I have taken additional yoga trainings including the art of teaching beginners, injury prevention and management, yoga sequencing, and teaching chair-based yoga.

I love yoga and am passionate about teaching! Using everything I’ve learned is especially satisfying in private one-to-one sessions. Private tuition is how yoga was originally taught. Together, we can customise the practice to your body and needs, and can use a chair, wall, and props as needed. The sessions can be as challenging or relaxing as you wish according to your unique goals.

“Perfect for beginners. Sharon has a lot of knowledge and demonstrates amazing techniques and different strength options to meet individual abilities.”
-Kristina M, In-person class participant

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do the private sessions take place?

The sessions are virtual. You can attend in your home or even in your office using your smartphone, tablet, or computer.

I’ve never done any kind of yoga before. Can I do this?

Yes! As your private yoga teacher, Sharon will help you figure out what you need most from the sessions, and design classes for you that meet you where you are. This might look different from week to week, or month to month, and may include mindfulness, breathing techniques, postures, and flows. The physical postures can range from gentle or chair-based to more energetic yoga flows.

What if I already attend group yoga classes?

Great! Private yoga sessions with Sharon can help support you. In group yoga classes, you may not receive enough individual attention to learn proper form and how to tailor your yoga practice to your unique body. In one-to-one sessions, Sharon will teach you how to customise your yoga practice to your body and goals.

What technology is required?

You will need a smartphone, tablet, or computer that can download the (free) Zoom app.

What if I don’t have a quiet space?

No problem! You might have people and pets around, or be somewhere noisy, and that is completely fine. In your initial consultation, you can talk with Sharon about your set up, and how you can still have a great yoga session, no matter what is going on around you!

What yoga equipment do I need?

It is a good idea to have a slip resistant yoga mat. A chair and wall may be used. Sometimes it’s useful to have a yoga block and strap, but household items can be just as effective. You can discuss this with Sharon in your sessions.

What do I need to wear?

Loose comfortable clothing is fine.

Is there a refund policy?

Appointments can be rescheduled up to 24 hours in advance. Appointments that are cancelled less than 24 hours in advance will not receive a refund.

What if I’m not sure?

That’s okay! Book a free 15-minute call with Sharon to talk about your needs, desires, and goals.

If I have another question, can I contact Sharon?

Feel free to email Sharon (sharon@sharonrayneryoga.com). Even better, book a 15-minute free consultation.

Imagine leaving every session with more confidence in your yoga practice, and feeling supported in your goals!

“I have recommended Sharon’s class to all my friends. It’s a very friendly class and Sharon is a superb teacher!”
